March 2007 is Fraud Awareness Month, and the Canadian Health Care Anti-fraud Association is pleased to be able to partner with the Fraud Prevention Forum in raising awareness about all types of fraud throughout Canada. During Fraud Prevention Month, the CHCAA joins public and private organizations in helping to educate Canadians and increase public awareness about various types of fraud and scams that they may be subjected to.
Health care fraud hurts everyone, and the CHCAA hopes to raise awareness about various types of health care fraud and to provide resources to help Canadians “Recognize It. Report It. Stop It.” The CHCAA will be participating in both the national awareness effort and various local events which will promote education and prevention of fraud.
Founded in 2000, the mission of the CHCAA is to combat health care fraud and assist in restoring the integrity of the Canadian health care system. One of the key objectives of the CHCAA is to build public, private, national and international partnerships with insurance carriers, service providers, law enforcement, health regulatory bodies, consumer groups and provider associations to protect the Canadian health care system from fraud.
