The Canadian Health Care Anti-fraud Association (CHCAA) is pleased to announce that Detective Sergeant Scott Moore of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has been elected as CHCAA’s Chair for 2007. Detective Sergeant Moore has been a member of the OPP for over 18 years, and is one of the original members of the Health Fraud Investigation Unit, which was formed by the OPP in 1998. The OPP Health Fraud Investigation Unit is responsible for conducting investigations into frauds committed against services and products provided by the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care, as well as working with many other partners in the fight against health care fraud. Scott provides leadership to a group of officers conducting investigations into user and supplier health care frauds, and has provided leadership in the area of prescription drug diversion. Scott has served on the Board of Directors of the CHCAA for a number of years prior to being elected Chair.
Additionally, Diane Geddes has been elected as CHCAA Vice Chair for 2006. Ms. Geddes has worked for over 20 years in various investigative accounting, quality and fraud roles in both healthcare and insurance. By profession, she is a Certified Management Accountant. She has been with Great-West Life (GWL) for 6 years and currently is Associate Manager of Group Health and Dental Financial Operations. Her responsibilities at GWL include budgets and expense management, performance management reporting, quality auditing and fraud management for the Health and Dental Benefits Operations.
Founded in 2000, the mission of the CHCAA is to combat health care fraud and assist in restoring the integrity of the Canadian health care system. One of the key objectives of the CHCAA is to build public, private, national and international partnerships with insurance carriers, service providers, law enforcement, health regulatory bodies, consumer groups and provider associations to protect the Canadian health care system from fraud.
